ABOUT

Who we are and what we do

Hello! Shamajul Motin - Founder and Director of Sporting Pillars

Sports Community Outreach, based in London, UK

Empowerment

I founded Sporting Pillars to bridge the gap between young people, education, and parents/carers, using my experience, the power of sport, and a strong community focus.

By empowering young people to become positive role models for their peers, and encouraging active involvement from parents and carers, we have built a supportive environment that nurtures growth and development. This approach not only enhances skills on the field, but also strengthens confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging beyond sport.

Experienced

With over 25 years of coaching and mentoring experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to supporting young people and communities. I have previously held leadership roles as a Community Manager with both Leyton Orient Trust and West Ham United Foundation, delivering impactful programmes that engage and inspire young people.

I currently work as a Service Manager for a well-established charity, supporting young people who are at risk, vulnerable, or not in education, employment or training (NEET), helping them progress into positive education, employment, or training (EET) outcomes.

I have extensive experience working in partnership with local authorities across a number of London boroughs, including Waltham Forest, Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Havering, and Barking & Dagenham.

My work has focused on supporting a wide range of vulnerable groups, including those involved with Youth Justice Services (YJS), Looked After Children (LAC), young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and teenage parents

Qualified

Throughout my career, I have gained a wide range of recognised qualifications that support both my coaching and mentoring practice. I hold a UEFA B License, alongside qualifications in safeguarding, management, and multi-sport delivery.

My professional development includes an NVQ Level 3 in Project Management and a PTTLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification. I have also completed the FA Disability Level 1 course and NCFE Drugs Awareness Level 1.

In addition, I am qualified across multiple sports at varying levels, including futsal, basketball (Level 2), cricket, tennis, athletics, and badminton, enabling me to deliver diverse and inclusive programmes to meet the needs of different young people.

How we can help

Empowering the Community

Over 20 years of experience supporting the community

Young People's Sessions

As a parent and a coach, ‘development’ is fundamental to a child’s progress. At Sporting Pillars, I have created my very own Sporting Pillars syllabus encompassing the qualities of being a footballer, but also wanting to enhance the soft skills of being an all-round sports person. Young people will be assessed every six months to demonstrate your child / young person’s progress since attending the sessions.

· Regular Outdoor football session.

· Indoor football session.

Adults & Intergenerational Sessions

We have our outdoor football session encouraging participants to come and play regardless of their ability, including those who have not played in a long time.

· Regular Outdoor football session.

· Women’s fitness session.

Intergenerational sessions – We can deliver chair based exercise programmes and healthy lifestyle sessions, which have been piloted and tested in The Borough of Newham.

Awareness Workshops

As a parent, mentor, brother, uncle and role model, I believe knowledge is power!

I have, on several occasions shared my knowledge and experiences with faith groups, young people and adults. It is vital within our community that people are aware of the current issues and trends that are happening within our society. Therefore, within our team, we have expert advisors and mentors, who can deliver workshops on the following themes which use video imagery, role play, discussion based and practical elements of sports:

  • Anti-Knife Crime
  • Gangs
  • Weapon Awareness
  • Substance Misuse

Inclusive Sessions

All our sessions are inclusive, however we can also support groups to run or deliver disability specific sessions.

I have also created a bespoke Inclusive Mentoring Programme. This can be delivered to both Primary and Secondary age groups. The project has been piloted and tested to over 8 schools within the Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham and Barking & Dagenham.
The sessions consist over 10 weeks and includes a disability awareness workshop, then 9 weeks of mentoring and play, understanding the true meaning of being Inclusive and playing together.
